Creating a Link to a Webpage in a Word Document

Objective:

This job aid will guide you through the steps how to create a link to a website in your Word document.

 
 
Step one: Go to the address you want to copy
 

Open your Web browser and go to the address you want to copy.

 
 
Step two: Highlight the address

With your mouse, highlight the address.

 
 
Step three: Copy the address
 

With your mouse, hover over the highlighted address and press the right mouse button and choose Copy as below, and copy the address (URL) to which you want to link from your document.

 
 
 

Step four: Select the word you want to function as a link

 

Select the word, phrase, or sentence in your document that you want to create as the link.

 
 
 

Step five: Insert the hyperlink

 

On the Insert menu in Word, click Hyperlink.

 
 
 

Step six: Paste the address

 

In the box "Type the file or Web page name," paste the address by pressing CTRL+V. Click OK and you're done!
