How to Create a PDF Handout of a PowerPoint Presentation for eCollege

Objective:

This job aid shows how to make a PDF Handout from a PowerPoint presentation for eCollege.
You must have Adobe Acrobat PDF Writer software installed on your computer.
 
 

Note:

 
Make sure the PowerPoint presentation you want to put into the handout format is in black-and-white. Follow first seven steps to transform your presentation into black-and-white.
*Note: If your PowerPoint presentation is already in black and white, skip to step eight.
 
 

Step one: Rename your existing presentation

Open PowerPoint Presentation and save it under a different name. Click File > Save As and rename the file (just add bw to the end of the file name to let you know that it is the black and white version) >Save
 
 

Step two: Go to Slide Master

 
Once you are back in the PowerPoint, click View > Master > Slide Master
 
 

Step three: Delete graphics

 
In the Slide Master screen, delete the headers, footers, and all graphics in the slide
 
 

Step five: Choose white background

 
Click Format > Background and click on the drop arrow, click on the white box. If you do not see a white box, click on "more colors" and click on the white circle. Click on Apply to All.
 
 

Step six: Choose Slide Color Scheme

 
Click Format > Slide Color Scheme > Custom > Background > Change Color. Select the white or circle, click OK.
 
 

Step seven: Choose Slide Color Scheme II

 
Select Text and Lines, click the Change Color button, select the black box, click OK. Select Title Text, click the Change Color button, select the black box, click OK.
Change the rest of the options on the page to white, click on each selection, click Change Color, select white box, click OK, click Apply to All. All yout powerpoint slides should now have white background and black text.
 
Step eight: Go back to the presentation

 

Open your PowerPoint presentation.
 
 

Step nine: Go to Print

 
Click File > Print. Under Printer Name change the printer selection to Acrobat PDF Writer.
 
 

Step ten: Finalize your print

 
Beside Print What, choose Handouts, beside Slides per Page, choose six, click OK.
