Working with Windows Movie Maker

Objective:

You will be able to capture and edit your movie clips. You will be able to add transitions, sound, and still photos to your video using the windows moviemaker software.

 
 
Step one: Start the Program
 
    1. Click on “Start”
    2. Programs”
    3. Windows movie maker
 
 
 
Step two: Capture video from digital video
 
  1. Click on “Capture video”
  2. “Capture from video device” or “import video”
  3. Get video from folder “filename”
 
 
Step three: Load video clips , still photos, and music into Movie Maker
 
  1. Click on “import video” for video
  2. Get video from folder “file name ”

or

  1. Click on “import photo” for still photos
  2. Get photo from folder “fine name”

or

  1. Click on “import music” for audio
  2. Get music from folder “file name”
 
 

Step four: Edit the beginning and ends of a video clip

 
    1. Rolling up the ends method
      • Click on “show timeline” so that “show storyboard” appears
      • Click at the beginning of the movie when two red arrows appear the drag to left to roll up the ends
    2. Splitting method
      • Hold down “ctrl”
      • In ‘show timeline’ click at the point you want to split
      • Click ‘split'
 
 

Step five: Add a title screen

 

    Click on “Edit Movie”

      • In the drop down menu click on “Make title or credits”
      • Select “Add title before the selected clips”
      • Type title “keep on trucking

    To animate the title screen

      • Click on “Change the title animation”
      • Scroll up and down to select the type of animation
      • Select “scroll, perspective

    Click on “Change the text font and color”

      • Select the type of font “Font”
      • Select font type “bold, underline, italic”
      • Click on “A” to change color
      • Adjust the type of “Transparency” you want to help title blend in background.
      • Adjust the “size” by clicking on the two “ A ”
      • Justify the text “left, center, right
 
 

Step six: Add Effects for clips

 
  1. Click on “Edit Movie”
  2. Select “View Video effects” from drop down menu
  3. Make sure you are in “Show timeline” mode
  4. Scroll down to select the type of effect
  5. Click on the effect of your choice “fade in, from black”
  6. Hit “Play” on the “video control button” to view the effect
  7. Drag the effect and drop it on the storyboard
  8. You should see a blue color star appear on the clip
 
 

Step seven: Add transitions between clips

 
  1. Click on “Edit Movie”
  2. Select “View Video transitions” from drop down menu
  3. Make sure you are in “Show timeline” mode
  4. Scroll down to select the type of transition between clips
  5. Click on the transition of your choice “circle”
  6. Hit “Play” on the “video control button” to view the transition
  7. Drag the transition and drop it between the two clips the storyboard
  8. You should see a blue transition appear on the timeline
 
 
Step eight: Add a sound track with fade in/out
 
    1. Click on “import audio or music”
    2. Click on “WorldMusic”
    3. Drag music to time line
