Weekly OLL Workshops (WOW!)

WOW workshops are held twice a week, 13 times a semester. They provide the faculty with hands-on training in topics that are valuable for improving online instruction. Topics range from Working with Wikis, Audio Production and Podcasting, and Using a Virtual Learning Environment: Second Life. Each workshop presents faculty members with both the pedagogical and technological aspects of the topic that week thereby helping them create more dynamic and motivating ways to learn.

Workshops are held Wednesdays 3 p.m. to 5p.m. and Fridays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the University of South Alabama, College of Education, Room 3302.

Feb. 17, 19	Have you ever thought about incorporating video recording into your research projects or your classroom, whether on campus, or online?	Producing Simple Instructional Videos and Video Podcasts	Digitizing and editing video appropriate for online learning and classroom enhancement.
Feb. 24, 26	Have you ever wanted to create your own website? Have you ever wanted to get the most out of the Internet?	Developing Educational Websites Using Dreamweaver	Design and development of websites using Dreamweaver.
Mar. 3, 5	Have you ever wondered if the materials downloaded from the Internet are legal to use? Would you like to protect your materials posted on the Internet? Have you ever wanted to make the research resource citation easier and more painless?	Creative Commons and EndNote	Learn how to protect your instructional materials from plagiarism and theft. Learn to work with the software that will make your research and writing comply with APA or any other writing styles automatically.
Mar. 10, 12	Have you ever wanted to create a stand-alone instructional product for your students, a product with software simulations, demonstrations, games, self-graded quizzes with immediate feedback? Moodle: An Open Source CMS for Supplementing Online and Blended Courses	Learn to install and set up your online courses using Moodle, learn how to navigate in your course and to use it to your and your students’ benefit.
Apr. 7, 9	In an online learning environment, the instructor assumes a new role, one of facilitator of information and student guide. Online learning also requires students to be actively involved in their learning by assuming more control over what they learn and how they learn it. As an instructor of an online class, what can I do to stimulate a student’s curiosity and increase his or her learning?
